Dodgers sign All-Star Ethier to one-year deal

(Reuters) - The Los Angeles Dodgers avoided arbitration with Andre Ethier by agreeing to a one-year, $10.95 million contract with the All-Star outfielder, according to a report on the Major League Baseball team's website on Tuesday.
The two-time All-Star, 29, had a .292 batting average with 62 runs batted in and 11 homers last year in a season cut short by knee surgery.
Ethier earned $9.25 million in 2011, the final year of a two-year deal.
