(Reuters) - The Miami Marlins lost their second arbitration case in three days as outfielder Emilio Bonifacio was awarded a $2.2 million salary for 2012, according to a report on Major League Baseball's website on Wednesday.

A three-person panel ruled for the Dominican Republic native after Miami offered $1.95 million following Bonifacio's breakout season in 2011 when he had a team-high .296 batting average with 40 stolen bases and a 26-game hitting streak.

Bonifacio, 26, earned $425,000 last year.

The decision is the second in three days to go against the Marlins as a panel ruled on Monday that pitcher Anibal Sanchez should make $8 million this year.
