Eaton scored the game-winning goal on a turnaround backhand shot. Eaton last scored on November 28, 2009, and has scored 24 career goals.

The loss was the fifth straight for the struggling Senators who were playing their first game at home since January 16.

Zack Smith opened the scoring for the Senators with only 13 seconds remaining in the second period with a wrist shot that Islanders goalie Evgeni Nabokov could not corral with his catching glove.

Matt Martin scored the tying goal for the Islanders early in the third period taking a pass from P.A. Parenteau as he streaked toward the Ottawa goal and fired a wrist shot over the blocker of Senators goalie Craig Anderson.
